Tokens reconsidered

This body of work was created during global closure as a way of carrying Mexico outward while borders were closed.
It emerged as a collaborative, community led project , offering paid opportunity to local artists at a time when access to work had narrowed.

Familiar symbols were chosen deliberately…Agave, maracas and forms often reduced to cliché and reworked with care and intention.
Rather than repeating their most common associations, the work reframed them:

Agave not as alcohol, but as healing, fibre and material; objects not as souvenirs, but as markers of place and process.

These pieces function as tokens of Mexico , interpreted with restraint executed with precision and finished to a premium standard.

They were never intended as novelty, but as a quiet counterpoint to the disposable imagery so often exported.
